The National Physiotherapy Professional Body
The equivalent of the Irish Society of Charted Physiotherapists (ISCP) in Singapore is the Singapore Physiotherapy Association (SPA). SPA is the only professional association to represent and advocate for the profession and practice in Singapore.
SPA is a member of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT). The WCPT website provides some information on physiotherapy in Singapore.
Singapore will be hosting the WCPT Congress from 1-4 May 2015. Visit the congress website for more information.

Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) is a professional board under the Ministry of Health which governs and regulates the professional conduct and ethics of registered allied health professionals, in accordance to the Allied Health Professions (AHP) Act 2011.
The AHPC’s functions include:

- Setting of standards for training, conduct and practice.
- Maintaining the Register of Allied Health Professionals in Singapore.

Registering with AHPC to work as a Physiotherapist in Singapore
Eligible Criteria:
1. Possess a basic/ primary professional qualification in his profession.
2. Have an offer of employment in Singapore.
3. English language requirement.
4. Qualifying examinations.
The application form is available online.
Not all application forms will be needed to complete. Your employer/ prospective employer will help you with the AHPC registration, unless you are self-employed.

Applicants whose basic professional qualification was obtained from a programme that was not taught in English will be required to demonstrate English Language Proficiency.

Qualifying Examinations (QE)
The QE is an assessment of the professional knowledge and skills expected of practitioners in Singapore. The QE standards will reflect competencies for safe and current practice in Singapore.
NOT RELEVANT to UCD graduates as UCD BSc physiotherapy degree is a recognized qualification in Singapore.

Conditional Registration
For professionals:
If your potential employer is unable to comply with the requirements set out in the Guidelines, your application for registration may be rejected. It is therefore important for you to ensure before committing to a contract that any prospective employer is able to offer the required level of supervision.

- With NO professional practice experience in Singapore.
- Who have an offer of employment from an employer/establishment that is able to provide supervision as stipulated by the Council.
- Whose qualifying education is on the list of recognised qualifications; OR passed the relevant Qualifying Examination.

Temporary Registration
Allows an allied health professional with a relevant professional qualification (equivalent to a BSc degree) to engage in training, teaching, or research in his profession.
Temporary registration may also be available to professionals to meet critical areas of service needs.
Conditions and restrictions may be imposed for temporarily registered therapists.
Renewal of Temporary registration may be granted on a case-by-case basis.
Allows an allied health professional with a relevant professional qualification (equivalent to a BSc degree) to engage in training, teaching, or research in his profession.
Temporary registration may also be available to professionals to meet critical areas of service needs.
Conditions and restrictions may be imposed for temporarily registered therapists.

Practising Certificate (PC)
When you have been granted registration you can apply for a PC which allows you to practise as a physiotherapist in Singapore:

You will need to submit the relevant fees and registration outcome letter with the PC application.
In future years, registrants may be required to show proof of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) and that they are actively practising before their PCs can be renewed.
