The programme aims to develop the participant's professional knowledge base, skills and understanding required by physiotherapists to fulfil their role in the rehabilitation of neurological and elderly patients in the context of changing health care services. Because we believe that excellence in the clinical area requires an equivalent expertise in research skills, the programme will have a particular emphasis on research. 2. Msc Neurological Physiotherapy
Coventry University
Due to the unique nature of neurological injuries, neurolical patients require specialist care during their rehabilitation. This programme provides a unique opportunity for physiotherapists who wish to develop and extend their knowledge base and professional expertise in the field of neurological rehabilitation. The course aims to help senior practitioners move into more specialist roles within clinical practice, research or educational environments.

What will be taught
Neurological physiotherapy is constantly being refined as a discipline and the course content is reviewed regularly to remain responsive to current practice developments and developments in neurology and neurological rehabilitation. The course facilitates the development of in-depth knowledge and a critical understanding of the theoretical concepts of neural control and the principles of neurological rehabilitation and encourages the application of theory to practice.
Entry Requirements
The course is open to physiotherapists who hold Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) registration as a physiotherapist and have a minimum of 1500 hours post-qualification experience in a neurological setting.
Students whose first language is not English will normally be asked to meet the standard requirements for University entrance at this level, which are: TOEFL (paper based) 550, TOEFL (internet based based) 103, IELTS 6.5.

Entry Requirements
- he candidate must fulfil the National University of Ireland (NUI) entry requirements or be eligible for matriculation
- Applications are invited from health care professionals (physiotherapy, occupational therapy) working in the areas of neurology and gerontology.
- The candidate must be eligible for membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists
- The candidate is required to hold a primary physiotherapy degree or equivalent
- The candidate should have obtained at least Second Class Honours degree
- Experience working in the area of neurology and gerontology
- A basic level of computer literacy, to include word processing, email and Internet skills is desirable
- Each candidate's application will be assessed on an individual basis
