Food and Drink:
- Majority of dry food is imported and there is a large selection of fresh food available.
- Pork is not widely available for consumption.
- Alcohol is widely banned and is only available in certain hotels and private clubs. Under new rules, you may apply for a home drinking permit from your employer which allows you to shop in the countries only off license, but alcohol consumption is shunned upon and being intoxicated in public is illegal.
Cost of living:
- The average cost to rent a 2 bedroom apartment is €1,000 which is usually subsidized by the employer.

- The average cost to fill a 4x4 is €10 because Qatar is the 3rd biggest producer of natural gas and oil in the world.
Rules and Regualtions:
- Gambling is forbidden in the state of Qatar.
- Couples must be married to live together and children will not be granted a visa to unmarried parents.
- Females are allowed to drive in the state of Qatar.
- You may only drive on your own license for a week and must apply for a permit to obtain a Qatari licence.
Past Times:
- Sports are widely played in Qatar with dhow sailing remaining a prominent past time.
- Soccer is also widely played and the Fifa 2022 world cup will be hosted in Qatar,
