Provided there is no missing information on the application the initial processing phase (verification of educational background, contact of referees) takes 4 weeks. The assessment phase (comparison of regulated educations with Standards of Proficiency) takes a further 12 weeks for the HCPC to complete.
Outcomes include acceptance for admission to registrar, request for further information by the HCPC, or a requirement to complete a period of adaptation or aptitude test should the proficiency levels of the applicant not meet those required by the HCPC.
Once accepted, registration fee of £80 per year.
Temporary Registration
Requires completion of a six page application for temporary provision of services. The application includes basic details, legal establishment in home state, supporting documentation (proof of nationality, legal establishment, and professional qualifications)and declaration of veracity of information. There are stipulations that should be noted with temporary registration however.
Temporary registration permits registrants to work on a temporary and occasional basis using the title and language of their home state.
Applicants must be professionally established in their home state.
It does not permit a person to use the professional title regulated by the HCPC.
It does not entitle registrants to apply for jobs that require full HCPC registration.
There are no fees associated with temporary registration.
Successful applicants will be placed on a register of visiting health or social work professionals for a period of 12 months. Applicants can renew their registration after a ten month period.
The HCPC aims to acknowledge and provide receipt of applications to be placed on the register of visiting health and social work professionals within 4 weeks. The processing time to be placed on the register varies in accordance with the volume of applications.
